Champagne Afternoon Tea at the Sky Lounge
A couple of years ago J and I went for afternoon tea at the Sky Lounge in London, as part of our five year anniversary celebrations. We haven't treated ourselves much to outings since we moved in together so we make an effort to when it comes celebrating anniversaries and occasions.
We found this deal on the Amazon Local website which meant that it was a bit cheaper. I was a bit unimpressed with the service we received. We booked a week in advance and when we got there, all of the tables were full. We overheard two ladies in the lift saying they booked an hour ago & once we arrived they were seated straight away. We were seated at the bar, alongside people having after work drinks. The waitresses seemed rude and unfriendly, they forgot our tea strainers and I also had to ask for some milk to have with my tea.
We were given sandwiches which included John Ross Smoked salmon with creme cheese, honey roast ham, English Mustard on Caraway seed bread, cucumber and sour cream (my personal favourite) and Carese salad with buffalo mozzarella, basil and heritage tomatoes on sourdough bread.
I was a bit disappointed with the choice of desserts. But perhaps it was just because it was not to my taste is not to say that others will not enjoy the selection. We were given a lemon tart which had quite hard pastry on the outside making it hard to eat elegantly! A chocolate tiffin, and orange compote.
The scones were by far the nicest part, food wise. They were soft and crumbly and tasted really yummy.
You were able to choose what flavour tea you wanted, I went for my favourite English Breakfast.
Overall, I would say it has not been the best experience of Afternoon tea, what with the lack of organisation and the service we received as customers. Although the views of London were spectacular from the Sky Lounge and I really enjoyed spending time with J.
