Afternoon Tea at Burger and Bubbles

by - April 29, 2018

So I’m back.. with another afternoon tea post, what a surprise!  Maybe I should have made this an afternoon tea blog..

Anyway, the other weekend I went to the ‘Tipsy Afternoon Tea’ at Burger and Bubbles in Beckenham. The ‘Tipsy Afternoon Tea’ is a quirky twist for afternoon tea lovers,  with sliders (mini burgers) instead of sandwiches and teapot cocktails instead of tea!

When you first arrive you receive a glass of prosecco and there are little glasses of popcorn on the table which you can enjoy while looking at the menu to decide which cocktails to order alongside your afternoon tea.
Food wise, the sliders were really good. I didn't have the cheeseburger one and traded this with my friend for two buttermilk chicken burgers but they were really tasty and a nice alternative to sandwichesPersonally I didn't think the scones were that amazing, although they came out warm and had plenty of jam and cream our ones were quite dense and you didn't get a choice of having plain or fruit which was a shame. The sweet treats were nice, we were given a mini chocolate brownie, a mini angel slice cake, vanilla eclair, chocolate profiterole and my favourite thing was the raspberry macaroon.

In regards to the alcohol you have the table for two hours but 90 minutes drinking time. They bring out an alarm clock once you've placed your first drink order. The staff come and take your order when the time is nearing the end so you still have plenty to drink in your remaining time.. we may have over-ordered and had to end up leaving some which was a shame! My favourite cocktail was the Pornstar Martini and I really loved the concept of taking traditional tea and adding a modern twist.

What food you get to share between two:
2 x Mini Cheeseburger
2 x Mini Buttermilk Chicken
2 x Mini Pulled Pork
4 x Warm Scones served with fresh clotted cream and Strawberry jam
A selection of fresh cakes, macaroons and petite treats

What drinks you get:
Unlimited prosecco
Teapot cocktails - which include Pornstar Martini, Bellinis in a range of flavours we tried peach and raspberry, Mojito, Earl Grey Ice Tea or Draught beer if cocktails aren’t your thing

The location wasn't too bad for us to get to, if you're based in London it's only one train to Beckenham Junction and the place is located right by the station. The atmosphere was really good and the staff were amazing and extremely accommodating. We have a vegan and vegetarian amongst our group of friends so some places aren’t great at providing options that keeps everyone happy, but this didn’t disappoint.

Overall I think it was really good value for money. Where you get three mini sliders each, two scones and the sweet treats you definitely feel full by the end! This might also be helped by the amount of prosecco and cocktails you drink as well!

It’s available Mon - Sun 12pm, 2pm & 4pm. Prices are from £29.95 per person.
