Harry Potter inspired Cocktails at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel

by - December 24, 2017

Inspired by the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel created a cocktail menu called 'Elixirs and Potions'. Although it wasn't officially linked to Warner Bros & Harry Potter, we thought we'd go along to check it out!

The hotel itself was featured in two of the Harry Potter films. The cocktails were served within the Booking Office bar which was the original station ticket hall. The architecture was absolutely beautiful.

Now on to the cocktails! Of course, what Potter fan could go & not try the 'Butterscotch Brew' which was their take on Butterbeer. It consisted of Sailor Jerrys rum (spiced rum) infused with salted butter, salted caramel syrup, angostura bitters, hot water, milk & butterscotch angel delight. It came out warm and tasted very sweet. I have to admit I wasn't a massive fan of this - I'm not a big fan of spiced rum but I couldn't not try it! We also tried the 'Elixir of Love' which was Amaretto, Chambord, Vodka & Lemon Juice which I much preferred & the 'Camouflage Coupette' which was Gin, Contreau, Lillet Blanc, Ansinthe & Lemon Juice. I thought this was well presented as it came in two parts, so you could pour your drink over the candyfloss & watch it dissolve.

Although the cocktails aren't cheap, they weren't watered down at all & were very alcoholic so you feel you get your moneys worth! Unfortunately they were out of stock of the Minty Toad for the Road (their version a chocolate frog) when we visited, apparently they were extremely popular.

The 'Mystic Elixirs and Potions' menu is available until February 2018.
